Programs
We invest in efforts to educate and engage our communities in activities that promote the stewardship of our natural resources, and we support programs that are critical to the development of our most vulnerable youth, from their earliest years into young adulthood.
Community-Based Environmental Stewardship
Island resilience requires collaborative action and learning between our communities, science and government. Engaged and knowledgeable communities who live by the values of mālama and aloha ‘āina help protect our home — one of the most ecologically diverse places on Earth.

Culture & Arts
The Kosasa Foundation has long supported Hawai‘i’s culture and arts organizations, and through interviews, surveys, and focus groups, we gained valuable insights that led to the launch of the Creative Capacity program—a targeted grant opportunity aimed at funding innovative projects and building long-term organizational capacity.

Opportunity Youth
One out of every 9 people between the ages of 18 and 24 is not in school or in the workforce. Hawai‘i is fortunate to have many agencies who deliver support services that provide opportunities for these youth to engage and thrive.
Our network of grantees compares this ecosystem to a muliwai, or an estuary, where fresh mountain water meets the briny sea, spawning new life that moves freely between the muliwai and the kai in an ongoing cycle of growth and support.
These partners help prepare, support and connect opportunity youth to success pathways.

Early Childhood Education
A quality early start for children provides lasting benefits for the rest of their lives. We need more preschools and we need more tuition assistance.
